About Us

The Washington State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential program created to promote the health, safety, and well-being of public service employees. When you're ready to get help, we're here for you.

Who we are

We are a program that serves over 150,000 Washington state government, higher education, and other public sector employees. We help employees and their families find the right support and resources to address the concerns you’re facing at work or at home.

First established by the Washington State Legislature in 1972 with RCW 41.04.700 through RCW 41.04.730, and now a part of the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES), we are your resource for enhancing employee and workplace effectiveness through problem prevention, identification, and resolution.

With over 50 years of experience and a diverse group of counselors, we foster an inclusive, caring, and trustworthy environment.

What we do

We offer a full line of services to public organizations on a contract basis. These services include counseling, financial and legal referrals, management guidance and consultations. We partner with you to help you work through your concerns so you can thrive at work and at home. Our services are always free, confidential, and voluntary, so you can count on us to maintain your privacy. Read our privacy policy and confidentiality notice.

We have a resource library covering topics such as mental health, wellness, and well-being. Use our lists of helplines and trusted sources to find other organizations that can help you in times of need.
